Ray of Hope

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Jesse Crain went to Tampa Bay for a four game seris which ended in a spilt seris decision. Tampa took the first games and the Twins the final two games. Jesse pitched in all four games. The last batter he faced maybe most interesting. After apparently striking out Willy Aybar twice in an 8 pitch at bat, Jesse walked the only batter he faced with bases loaded. Aybar would score on a Grand Slam from Jason Bartlett. Several bloggers across the Twins Nation have taken note see their articles: Unlucky Jesse or “Empirical” strike zone.

Whatever the case, Jesse Crain has given up one earned run since June 10. A stretch of 20 scoreless innings and a .96 ERA since May 20. On the season Jesse has a 3.18 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 45.1 innings while walking 17 (4 IBB)

Delmon Young tied the game in the bottom of ninth after the Twins lost the lead in the top of the ninth. 10 of 18 pitches went in for strikes as Jesse Crain is moves to 1-0 on the year.

On the Road Again

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Jesse Crain and the Minnesota Twins came out of Yankee Stadium this past weekend with a seris loss but took a much needed victory on Sunday with a Jason Kubel Grand Slam. Jesse pitched in Saturday’s contest not fairing so well against the Yankee battery. Fridays intentional walk to Mark Teixeria gave way for his two-run on Saturday.

Jesse went 6 and 2/3 innings between 6 outings without giving up a run. He has struck out 6 while walking 4 on 4 hits.

The Crain Train goes through Cleveland

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Jesse Crain recorded his second hold of the season as he faces three Indians batter. After a leadoff single, Jesse strikes out the next batter, Valbuena looking. The last batter to go up against Jesse was his old cathing partner Mike Redmond who promptly hit into a double play. Jesse threw 7 of his thirteen pitches for strikes and lowered his ERA to 6.55. The Twins won 9-3.

Jesse and the Twins finish off the month of April with a 15-8 record while winning 6 of 7 seris to start the season. The 6 consecutive seris victories to start a season is the most in team history and the Twins were the last team in the majors to obtain a 2-game losing streak which was broken up today.

Tigers Take Care of Twins

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Jesse Crain and the Twins lose their first seris of season 2 games to 3 to rival Detroit Tigers. Jesse Crain comments on the last game of the seris.

“Funny things happened that inning,” Crain said. “Obviously, that Span catch is right in front of us. It looked like he caught it, but they didn’t see it that way.”

“The first two pitches, they are all over the fastball,” Crain said. “Just something to take in and remember the next time you go in there. We went to the mound and we wanted a sinker down, and that’s what I threw, and that’s what he did with it. Maybe next time, throw a curveball or something off-speed, but it just didn’t happen. You see the next couple innings, I mixed stuff up and it works out. It’s the life of a reliever. You go in during those big situations, and everybody is amped up, and they are out there swinging early.”

Jesse’s has now pitched 10 innings with 8 earned runs while only walking 2 and striking out 8.

Shuting Out the Tribe

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Jesse Crain pitched a scoreless 9th inning for the Twins against the Cleveland Indians. After two rough outs, Jesse took over for Fransico Liriano who left the game scoreless in the 8th. Jesse stuck out Austin Kearns follwed by a Travis Hafner belted a double to left field. Not so lucky were Mark Grudzilanek , who grounded to third and Jhonny Peralta fouled to Joe Mauer. Jesse Crain and the Minnesota Twins have won 5 seris in a row.
